📊 Displaying Deviations & Actions on KPIs

This article explains how deviations and actions are visualized directly on KPIs — both via color-coded symbols on the KPI tile and in the detail view. You’ll learn how to interpret the iconography correctly and understand how content from subordinate teams (cascaded) is displayed.

Why this topic matters
The visual display of deviations and actions on KPIs enables a quick assessment of necessary actions:
📉 Are KPIs outside their tolerance range?
🛠️ Have actions already been initiated?

This transparency helps managers identify deviations and responses at a glance — without searching extensively or switching between teams.

Prerequisites

  • 🔐 Access to ValueStreamer

  • 📊 Relevant KPIs are visible in the team or aggregated overview

  • 📌 Deviations and/or actions have already been recorded for the KPI

🧭 Structure & display
The status of deviations and actions is shown directly in KPI tiles using color-coded icons:

Symbol Meaning
🔴 Red Deviation recorded, no action linked
🔵 Blue At least one action linked to the deviation

ℹ️ Note:
Additional linked content (deviations, actions, Go & See, Top Topics) can be found in the right-hand panel — both in the single-KPI view and the multi-KPI overview.

📥 Aggregation of deviations & actions
When KPIs are used across teams, deviations and actions are automatically cascaded.

📌 Example scenario:

  • The Motor Line team (child team) reports a deviation and records an action.

  • This information is automatically displayed in the parent team Assembly.

📈 In the higher-level team, it becomes immediately visible:
➡️ "A downstream area requires action."

These details are visible:

  • Directly on the KPI tile (color-coded symbol)

  • In the right-hand Deviation Management section

Tips & Best Practices

  • ✨ Use the color-coded icons as a discussion starter in daily shopfloor meetings.

  • 💡 Best Practice: Record an action for a deviation immediately — the red icon will automatically switch to blue.

  • 📌 Important: Cascaded content displays cross-team escalations — no manual team switching is needed.
