In this article, you’ll learn as a system administrator how to adjust password policies in ValueStreamer. This lets you define the requirements all user passwords must meet – ensuring greater security across the system.

🛠️ How it works
Open System Settings

Click the white ⚙️ gear icon in the top right of the header to access the system settings.
ℹ️ Info: Only users with system administrator rights have access to this area.
Select “Security”

In the left sidebar, go to: System Settings → Security.

Edit Password Policies

In the Password Policies section, click the ✏️ pencil icon to edit the settings.

⚙️ What can be configured?
In the edit mask, you can define the following requirements:
✅ Uppercase letters (A–Z)
✅ Lowercase letters (a–z)
✅ Numbers (0–9)
✅ Special characters (optional, e.g., !, %, $)
✅ Minimum password length (e.g., 8 characters)
🛠️ These settings apply system-wide – affecting all users once they change or reset their password.
🔐 Admin-only: Access is limited to users with administrator rights.
🌍 Applies to all users: Policies are valid across the system, regardless of role or department.
🔄 Active from next password change: Users must follow the new rules the next time they change their password.

💡 Best Practice:
Set a minimum password length of at least 8–12 characters and enable special characters if possible – this significantly increases password security.
💡 Best Practice:
After changing password policies, it can be useful to force all users to reset their passwords.
Path: User Management → Select all users → Reset Password

When do the new password policies take effect?
→ At the next password change for a user.
Do existing passwords have to be changed?
→ No, unless the user is prompted via the “Reset Password” button in User Management.
Can I make special characters mandatory?
→ Yes, once you enable this option in the policies.
