What does the CFD show?

The CFD visualizes the number of tasks in each process phase – over a selected period of time. You can see:

  • How many tasks are currently active in the process

  • How many tasks have been completed

  • How long the cycle time is

Where can I find the KPI?

The KPI Cumulative Flow Diagram + (process board name) is automatically created when a new process board is set up.

  • Visible in Team Administration under Available KPIs

  • Displayed as a dashboard tile or in detail view

✨ Tip: The KPI also appears automatically for existing boards.

How do I read the diagram?

The CFD shows you:

  • Active inventory (WIP): How many tasks are currently in the process

  • Average cycle time: How long it takes to complete tasks

  • Completed items: How many tasks have already been finished

These values are displayed in sub-tiles from left to right:

  • Inventory

  • ⌀ Lead Time

  • Completed

What do colors and values mean?

  • Each phase has its own color (green to blue)

  • Colored areas in the CFD are stacked: the higher the area, the more tasks in that phase

  • Deleted phases are still shown in the timeline, but not in the legend

Unit & format

KPI Unit Data type
Inventory, Completed Count Integer
Cycle time d to y Decimal (1-DP)

ℹ️ Info: The time unit adapts to the selected period:

  • up to 56 days → [d]

  • up to 365 days → [w]

  • up to 730 days → [m]

  • over 730 days → [y]

Interactive elements

  • Tooltip: Shows date, values per phase, and note (deleted) if applicable

  • Legend: At the bottom, switchable between Range and Throughput

    • Throughput = slope of the green curve (e.g. items/day)

Calculation & logic

Inventory
Number of active tasks per phase at time X

Cycle time
⌀ Time between start and completion of an item (including start day)

  • No completed tasks → Blue line

  • No result → Display “N/A”

Completed
Sum of all completed or archived tasks in the period

Formulas

  • Range = (Active inventory × Days) ÷ Completed items

  • Throughput = Completed items ÷ Days

  • Invalid values → Display “N/A”

ℹ️ Info: All calculations are performed in real time, adjusted to the team’s time zone.

✨ Tip: Use the Throughput legend to easily visualize process comparisons.

❓ FAQ

Why do I see “N/A” in the tile?
This happens when no data is available – for example, no completed tasks in the selected period.

Can I change the unit of cycle time?
No, the unit is automatically chosen based on the period (days, weeks, months, years).

What happens to archived tasks?
They count as completed tasks and are included in the calculations.
