📋 Filtering and Sorting in Lists

In this article, you will learn how to sort and filter entries in existing lists in ValueStreamer in a targeted way. Sorting and filtering are now controlled directly in the table – sorting via the column header, filtering via a dedicated filter view. This helps you find relevant entries faster and keep an overview.

đŸ”ŧ Quick sorting via the column header

Sorting is no longer done via a central icon at the top right, but directly at the respective column.

  1. Open the desired list.
  2. Move the mouse pointer over the column header you want to sort by (e.g. "Storage location") and click the three-dot menu (⋮) of the column.
  3. Select "Sort ascending" or "Sort descending".
  4. An arrow (↑ / ↓) next to the column name indicates the active sort direction.

ℹī¸ Note: Using "Deactivate sorting" in the same menu removes the column's sorting again.

✨ Tip: You can also toggle the sorting directly by clicking on the column title (ascending/descending).

📌 Pinning, hiding, and managing columns

The same column menu (⋮) offers further options for adjusting the table view:

  • Pin left / Pin right – fixes the column at the edge during horizontal scrolling.
  • Hide – hides the column from the current view.
  • Manage columns – opens the selection of which columns are displayed.

ℹī¸ Note: These settings affect your current view, not the underlying list template.

🔎 Quick filtering via the filter view

The filter is still opened via the filter icon, but now uses a structured builder view consisting of column, operator, and value.

  1. Open the desired list.
  2. Click the filter icon (funnel) at the top right.
  3. Define the filter condition:
  • Column – select the column to be filtered (e.g. "Done").
  • Operator – choose the condition (e.g. "is").
  • Value – choose the comparison value (e.g. "No").
      4. The list is filtered accordingly right away.

✨ Tip: Use "Add filter" to combine multiple conditions. Remove a single filter via the × to its left, or all filters via "Remove all".

ℹī¸ Note: You can also open the filter directly from the column menu (⋮) via "Filter" for the respective column.

💾 Saving a view

Sorting, filters, and column arrangement initially apply to your current session. Using the "Save view" button at the top right, you can permanently save the current display.

⚠ī¸ Caution: Without saving, the default sorting configured in the list template is applied again when the page is reloaded.

ℹī¸ Note: Which saved views are visible to other users depends on your permissions and the team/template configuration.

The permanent default sorting that applies to everyone is not defined in the list itself, but in the list template, and is reserved for administrators.

  • ✅ Use the filter to display relevant entries in a targeted way during meetings or reviews (e.g. "Done is No").
  • ✅ Sort by important fields such as "Date" or "Priority" to keep an overview.
  • ✅ Save recurring views via "Save view" instead of setting sorting and filters anew each time.
  • ✅ Hide rarely used columns via "Hide" to keep the table clear.

How do I sort a list? Click on the column header or the three-dot menu (⋮) of the column and select "Sort ascending" or "Sort descending". The arrow next to the column name shows the active direction.

Where do I find the filter? Via the filter icon (funnel) at the top right, or directly via "Filter" in the column menu (⋮). The filter is built as a condition of column, operator, and value.
